OECS Competitive Business Unit celebrates success of Viking brand

The St. Lucia-based company now boasts a presence at the world famous KaDeWe Food Hall in Berlin, Germany

Viking Traders Limited, Saint Lucia, is the first Caribbean brand to join the prestigious selection of exotic delights from around the world at Berlin’s world famous KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens) Food Hall with support from the OECS Competitive Business Unit.

KaDeWe, the largest department Store on the European Continent, is a popular tourist attraction with over 120,000 visitors per day. Viking Traders’ Caribbean products can now be found in the exclusive delicatessen court under the display ‘The Authentic Taste of the Caribbean.’

Marketing Director of Viking Traders Limited, Ms. Gizelle Fleischhacker, was thrilled to represent Saint Lucia and the Caribbean at the prestigious food court.

“It is a privilege and honour to be part of the great selection of worldwide food products at such a noble Food Court. Our company, Viking Traders Limited from the Helen of the West Indies, Saint Lucia, is the first to represent the entire Caribbean area,” Fleischhacker said.

Fleischhacker noted that German consumers, as well as Caribbean residents of Berlin, were delighted to see Saint Lucian products on sale in the Food Hall.

Business Development Officer at the OECS Competitive Business Unit, Mr. Kwesi Roberts, said this achievement further establishes the Viking brand among regional and international leaders in the gourmet food industry.

“This milestone is a testament to Viking’s commitment to quality and the hard work of its management and staff. We are extremely delighted that this company continues to make strides in the OECS manufacturing sector.”

“The KaDeWe exhibition broadens the horizon of opportunity for Viking Traders to become a truly global brand and the OECS CBU looks forward to the company's growth and future success,” commented Roberts.

The OECS CBU has provided support to Viking Traders Limited for over ten (10) years in the areas of Market Access, Quality Systems, Product Enhancement and Capacity Building.
